The Golden Pheasant

Kai needs help taking the winning photo for an animal photography competition. Leo and Katie go over to help him with it. Armed with Kaimera-1000, they are determined to take a photo of a mysterious colorful streak. But what is it exactly? It’s a golden pheasant! Enchanted by its vibrant colors, the rangers try to snap a photo of it, but it ducks out of the way every time. Just when they think they found the golden opportunity, Kai rams up his flash and snaps a photo of… Ranger Rocky?! Ranger Rocky jumps out to shield the pheasant from the flash. He explains that the golden pheasant is sensitive to light. The rangers feel bad for harassing the poor pheasant. To make up for it, Kai designs an invisible cloak for the pheasant that would turn it invisible and protect it from the sun’s rays. He hopes that in return, he can get a photo of it without flash. Sadly, the invention backfires on Kai. Before he gets to take a photo of the pheasant, it activates its newfound cloak and slips away.

The Red-bellied Piranha

Leo and Katie are trying to fix Platypus One, which has been acting up since their last underwater mission. They receive a call from Peyo who is stuck in the middle of the amazon river, surrounded by what he thinks are river monsters. They turn out to be Red-bellied Piranhas. The rangers head over to rescue Peyo. They manage to get Peyo safely onboard Platypus One. But there is a piranha hanging onto Peyo's satchel! There is some chaos onboard Platypus One, as the rangers frantically try to get the piranha back into the river without getting bitten. Before the piranha flops into the water, it nips Platypus One's floatie. The floatie starts to deflate. Katie quickly gets Leo to activate submarine mode. They submerge into the water, only to realize that they have just put themselves right in the middle of a shoal of piranhas. They freak out! Leo quickly tries to drive away, but they seem to be everywhere! Leo tries to hit flight mode, but Platypus One doesn't cooperate. It's out of control! Finally, the blast out of the water and land in jeep mode. There is a moment of relief until Hero discovers a stole away - another piranha in the vehicle! Fortunately, Ranger Rocky swings by on a vine and tosses the piranha back into the water. Ranger Rocky clears the air about piranhas. They have a reputation of being aggressive and fearsome, however, if we don't provoke them, they tend to leave people alone. In fact they usually eat prey that are already dead and they travel in packs due to the fear of predators. Ranger Rocky helps the rangers fix Platypus One and they return home.

The Humpback Whale

In a bid to decipher the melodious humpback whale song, Kai invents an animal translator and invites the rangers to test it out with him. Hero takes the opportunity to confess tell Leo and Katie how much he loves them...and potatoes? The translator seems to be picking up weird conversations from the whales as well - Whales reminding each other to buy onions? Whales going ‘one potato, two potato’? The rangers soon realize that Kai’s translator isn’t as perfect as he thinks it is. In the midst of all the nonsensical animal chatter, a whale breaches, causing Hero to fall over PlatypusOne and into the mouth of a humpback whale! Ranger Rocky gets the humpback whales to sing along with him. Based on the tremors from its singing, Hero is able to direct the rangers to the whale he’s trapped in. The rangers manage to save Hero from the Whale. But it is back to the drawing board for Kai and his animal translator.

The Plains Zebra

Jane and Zumi discover a Zebra which lost its baby during a zebra migration. Leo, Katie and Hero arrive in the savanna to help locate its baby. They learn that each zebra has a unique stripe pattern. Katie creates a stripe scanner application for the children to use for locating the baby zebra. It works similar to a barcode scanner! While searching for the zebra mom, the rangers are annoyed by irritating flies buzzing around them. Ranger Rocky tells them that one of the functions of zebra stripes is to confuse insects like flies, making it harder for them to land on zebras and bite them. The rangers decide to put on some zebra paint so the flies will leave them alone. After more search efforts, they finally find the mama zebra! Leo accidentally knocks Katie’s tablet to the ground, and the scanner startles the zebras, causing a stampede. Leo and Katie try to protect the baby from the stampede as Zumi calms the herd down. Finally, the mother and baby zebras reunite.

The African Bush Elephant

The children together with Jane and Zumi try to cheer up a sad baby elephant. They learn that it was often picked on by its older brother, because it’s not as strong. The children then try to teach and train it to be better at doing things with its trunk. It fails after a few attempts. Upset by the teasing from his older brother, the baby elephant runs away. The rangers, together with the older elephant, run after it. They suddenly hear a distressed call some distance away, and realize the older elephant has fallen into a hole! The young elephant has an idea and tries to fill the hole with water, so it’s easier for its older brother to get out. The children help it to fill the hole with water, and the baby elephant calls for more adult elephants to rescue its older brother. Finally, the older brother manages to climb out of the hole, thanks to the little elephant’s brilliance.

Leo, Katie, Hero, Jane and Zumi find a baby rhino who’s stuck in a pool of mud. They go into the mud to try and push the baby rhino out, but it doesn't work! Ranger Rocky decides to go find its mother. As soon as Ranger Rocky leaves, the mother appears and she looks angry! It chases the rangers around fiercely. The rangers get into Platypus One and drive off. After a wild chase, which leaves Leo hanging off the horns of mother rhino, Zumi manages to calm the mother down. Jane and Zumi stay with the mother rhino to keep it calm, while Leo, Katie and Hero go back to the mud pool to pull the baby rhino out. However, the rangers discover that the river has dried up! Ranger Rocky knows of a river nearby, and suggests luring the hippos there with food. They slowly led the hippos to the river, and located the baby hippos mother. With some effort and Ranger Rocky’s help, they successfully reunite the baby hippo with its mother.

The Mountain Gorilla

Jane calls for Leo and Katie’s help after an earthquake strikes where she's at. They find a community of gorillas who are missing a leader. Ranger Rocky somehow ended up as their new leader. The children go off to find the gorillas’ leader, and realize it has been trapped behind some boulders caused by the earthquake. The rangers have to clear the boulders, but they have to make sure the gorilla is not in the way of the tumbling rocks. Leo tries speaking gorilla to communicate with the leader. It seems to work and the gorilla moves further away from the rock wall. Katie reverses Platypus One and pulls out a log which causes the rock wall to come crashing down. The rangers successfully free the gorilla leader. However, the leader is unhappy that Ranger Rocky took over his position. There is an intense stand-off. Ranger Rocky diffuses the tension by kneeling and bowing down, showing respect to the leader. Satisfied, the leader leaves with the other gorillas. At the end, the rangers realize the sounds Leo made were actually chimpanzee sounds and not gorilla sounds. They all laugh it off.

The Kea

Kyle invites Leo, Katie and Hero out on a hike in New Zealand. A mischievous bird decides to join them as they prepare for the hike. Unfortunately, he's a little too mischievous and steals the key to PlatypusOne. The rangers learn that the bird is a Kea. They set off to find the kea bird who has stolen their key! They try to trick the kea with an inside-out cage (berries are trapped inside the homemade cage to distract the kea outside) but the kea proves to be too intelligent for them. Later, they learn that the kea has a contagious play call and use that to distract it instead. They successfully get their key back. Unfortunately, the play call has also attracted other keas. The rangers quickly escape as the birds flock their way.

The Lyrebird

The rangers are on a search for a dog that's been barking in the forest. Or so they think...until they come face to face with a bird that barks like a dog. The young lyrebird mimics a chainsaw and a camera shutter. He seems different from other lyrebirds. The other older lyrebirds sing songs of nature while the younger lyrebird only knows how to make man made sounds. The other lyrebirds shun him. The rangers decide to help him make friends with the other lyrebirds. They put the young lyrebird through a series of training - Ranger Rocky works on its strength, Katie works on its song, Leo works on its dance and Kyle works on its plume. Then, it’s showtime! The rangers arrange a performance for the lyrebird to show off its new moves to the other animals. All is perfect, until the lyrebird spots other lyrebirds in the crowd. It is hit with a serious case of nerves. The lyrebird messes up badly and is about to leave the stage when a dingo infiltrates the crowd. Chaos erupts! Thankfully, the young lyrebird scares the dingo away with its bark. The young lyrebird saves the day and wins the heart of the other lyrebirds.

The African Lion

Jane and Zumi encounter a lioness trapped in a cave. She calls Leo and Katie for help. The cave is blocked by a huge boulder. Leo and Katie arrive, but before long, more lions are heading towards them. The children move away from the cave to hide. They try to lure the lions away, but fail. Just then, Ranger Rocky arrives to help the rangers. He manages to lure the lions away, so the rangers can help the lioness. Zumi accidentally slips and falls into the cave. The lioness corner and pounce on her. However, it is revealed that the lioness thinks Zumi is one of her cubs. The rangers realize that the lioness has cubs inside too! Using the wrench on Platypus One, the rangers finally manage to move the boulder and free Zumi, the lioness and her cubs.

The Mantis Shrimp

There’s an intense fight underwater and Farah needs help to break it up! The rangers wonder what kind of ferocious sea animals are fighting. However, they find out that it is two tiny peacock mantis shrimps! But looks can be deceiving, for the mantis shrimps are known for their menacing smashing appendages. The rangers decide to disguise PlatypusOne as an unbeatable mantis shrimp monster to break up the shrimp fight. It’s a face off between Shrimp-zilla (Platypus One) and the tiny mantis shrimps! To the rangers’ delight, not only do they get the shrimps to stop fighting, they manage to get them to work together to destroy their common enemy… Shrimp-zilla! It’s a team effort as the shrimps take turns using their smashers to break Platypus One's window, causing water to stream in. Thankfully, the rangers get to the surface in time before the interior of the vehicle is flooded.
